I’ve talked to a lot of people about why it’s important to own gold and silver, yet I find that most people don’t fully grasp why. Many of the opponents to owning precious metals for preparedness reasons often cite that because they can’t eat it, it’s worthless as a prep. First, let me just get it out there that I don’t advocate buying precious metals if you aren’t prepared in the other areas, namely food, water, cooking, shelter, defense and so on. Gold and silver aren’t going to do much for you if you’re not prepared to meet the basic … Continue reading

Last week, we covered some tips on reaching out to neighbors without tipping your hand that you’re a prepper. Once you find some like-minded people, you’ll probably start thinking about forming a group, as having people you can trust at your back is highly desirable and worthwhile in a survival situation. But, how to go about setting up your newly founded group? In this podcast, I cover the difference between MAGs and Teams, but mostly MAGs. The MAG, or Mutual Assistance Group, concept is more flexible for most people, especially those preppers that are looking for … Continue reading
Here are the show notes for Episode 141. Upcoming Election Just as a side note, Keep in mind that regardless of who gets elected as president, they cannot stop the coming economic collapse. There’s too much damage that’s been done to the economy for too many decades for a single administration to be able to fix it. It would be great if the next presidential administration, regardless of who it is, would enact measures to start us in the right direction. Though, we all know that it’s not likely to happen. Just wanted to … Continue reading
Charlie McGrath of WideAwakeNews.com did an excellent video essay on getting home safely. In this video, Charlie shows how having a Get Home Bag, which is his EDC – Every Day Carry, and a plan to get home via an alternate route can keep you much safer than trying to face whatever upheaval is happening in the city. Have you made your plan to get back home? Do you carry a Get Home Bag with you all the time? you can also watch it on YouTube here: http://youtu.be/lmudsLgEvWM
A listener had written me asking how to go about creating a community of preparedness-minded people. There’s no easy answer to that, but one way to start finding people is through Meetup.com.
Today I recap some of the things that I’m doing to get better prepared and some of the observations that I’ve noticed with what’s going on in the world and how it affects us as preppers. Doing prep stuff everyday Local farmers market Tapping into local resources Food price increases Starting to repack food in smaller packs Making bread and butter from scratch Making hamburger and hot dog buns
Just some general commentary on what I’ve been doing to keep getting prepared. I’ve been trying to do something preparedness related every day and I end up with too few hours to get everything done that I want to get done. Anyway, here’s a little update on what I’ve been doing to keep working my prep plan.
In this episode, I discuss the Strategic preparedness plan that I’m using to get ready for the dollar collapse and the coming depression. Be true to yourself. Know why you’re prepping and what you’re prepping for. Don’t let anyone distract you from getting ready. Stock up on everything; especially food and sundries. The coming depression is going to be a long term event; there’s little chance that you’ll be able to stock up and store everything you will need for the duration. Instead, stocking up now will allow you to buy things while they are still cheap, which should (hopefully) … Continue reading
