Surviving EMP Mini-Guide Now Available in PDF!
The Preparedness Podcast Mini Guide on Surviving an EMP attack or XME Impact is now available as a instant downloadable PDF! One of the common requests I’ve had was to release the EMP book in print and as a PDF. The PDF version is available now by clicking in the image, or on the Add To Cart button below. We hope to have the print version available soon! The book is still available as a Kindle book from Amazon by clicking here. Book Description: In a blink of an eye, life as you know it can change forever. In the … Continue reading
Surviving EMP – Faraday Box Testing – Part 3
This is part three of my three-part video series on testing Faraday shielding. In this video, I show how many layers of aluminum foil it takes to successfully shield a 50,000 watt AM signal, while standing at the base of the stations antenna array. Be sure to check out Part 1 for an explanation on why this testing is far superior than using a cell phone or ‘walkie-talkie’ for testing the shielding effectiveness. This was part of the research I did for the The Preparedness Podcast Mini-Guide: Surviving EMP [Kindle Edition] ebook. Relavent links: The Preparedness Podcast Mini-Guide: Surviving EMP [Kindle Edition] ebook … Continue reading

Surviving EMP – Faraday Box Testing – Part 1
When I was testing different Faraday containers, I took three videos of what worked and demonstrated it shielding 50,000 watts of AM radio signal. A strong AM radio signal, is a good test of EM/RF shielding, because the properties of medium wave allow it to easily penetrate most materials. Since we want to shield against high-levels of EM waves, if you can block a strong AM signal when standing at the base of the station’s antenna, you know you have decent shielding. in this first video, I show how nesting Faraday shielding with aluminum foil and a metal trash can … Continue reading

Extremely Important Aspect About Nuclear Reactors And EMP-CME Events
(You can also listen to the podcast on EMP and EMP Protection.) Be sure to check out the videos I did that demonstrates shielding against a 50,000 watt AM signal, and the Surviving EMP Mini-Guide: The Preparedness Podcast Mini-Guide: Surviving EMP [Kindle Edition] ebook Testing Faraday shielding for EMP, part 1 Testing Faraday shielding for EMP, part 2 Testing Faraday shielding for EMP, part 3 There is a little talked about, but extremely important aspect what an EMP attack or major CME event would have on nuclear reactors. If your home or retreat area is near a nuclear reactor, you need … Continue reading

One of the big misconceptions is that they are the same. … Continue reading

Here’s a primer on what EMP is. An EMP, or Electromagnetic Pulse, is generated … Continue reading
EMP ATTACK: ‘90% OF AMERICANS WOULD BE DEAD’
With a headline like that, how can you ignore it? EMP ATTACK: ‘90% OF AMERICANS WOULD BE DEAD’ We really haven’t gotten into nuclear war or EMP effects, though we will be soon, but I’m becoming a little concerned with all the information coming out about EMP lately. Be sure to check out the videos I did that demonstrates shielding against a 50,000 watt AM signal, and the Surviving EMP Mini-Guide: The Preparedness Podcast Mini-Guide: Surviving EMP [Kindle Edition] ebook Testing Faraday shielding for EMP, part 1 Testing Faraday shielding for EMP, part 2 Testing Faraday shielding for EMP, part 3 … Continue reading
EMP Means Hand Tools
Last night at the Prep 101 meeting, Fred and I were giving a class on the effects of EMP, or Electromagnetic Pulse. Specifically, we were discussing what EMP is, what the effects are if it were to happen, and what you can do to protect your gear from it. I’ll be getting into these topics later, both on the podcast and this site in the not-too-distant future, but one of the members had a question that showed he was connecting the dots. His question was, “If the pulse of the EMP is going to take out the power grid, should … Continue reading
2012 Solar Storm incoming! (how's that for a 2012 coincidence?)
If you’re into ham radio, you’ve probably heard about Solar Maxima/Minima issues, and how they affect high frequency propagation, and the various other things good old Sol affects. This is for the other folks. Those of you that aren’t ham radio people, the effect the sun has on many of our systems is huge. Of course, I’m not talking about the weather – I’m talking about things like the GPS system, the power grid, computers, telecom, data storage, and all sorts of other systems that can, and have been, affected by “Solar Storms”. What am I leading up to? Well, … Continue reading
